Types of Plagiarism

Direct plagiarism

This is when you copy and paste information from a website or copy directly from a book.

Accidental plagiarism

This is when you forget to say where you got your information from, or take notes where you only change a few words rather than putting it in your own words.

Mosaic plagiarism

This is when you use sentences from a source but don't use quotation marks or when your keep sentences the same and only change one or two words.

  • put the information in your own words
  • have a bibliography at the end of your work

How to Cite Your Work

  • Title
  • Author
  • Date of Publication
  • Place of Publication
  • Publisher

To cite a website you need to include the:

  • URL/Web Address
  • When you accessed the information
